Comfort

Comfort zones can be prisons. The same, familiar people we surround ourselves with, the places we go to feel better, the same books we read, the easy and unchallenging conversations we have that confirm our opinions and beliefs, the tame and soothing thoughts we fill our heads with, the expected and conditioned way we see ourselves shape the life we live.

Comfort can bring us security and help for a time but it is not the place for growth and exploration. Only when we have the courage to step away from what we’ve known, begin to question, dare to think outside the box our childhood, youth and adulthood has erected around us will we realize that life is more, much more, than what we’re currently experiencing.

Most people resist to their dying breath the challenge of thinking, doing, being a person other than whom they’ve always been told they’re supposed to be and should be.

The journey out of our comfort zone is not for the timid. It’s for the one who longs to be free and won’t settle for a cage no matter how comfortable.

Read. Understand. Absorb. Repeat.
