The Hemel-en-Aarde is known for its good wine. More recently it has also become an example of community involvement and support. Three Early Childhood Development (ECD) centres are supported:

1. Hemel-en-Aarde Valley Pre-School
2. Ella Gordon Creche
3. Pebbles Hemel-en-Aarde Education Project

There is also support for the Blackbirds Rugby Club to ensure that its not all work for the farm workers of the region. The Hermanus History Society and the Hermanus Cliff Path receive financial aid from Sumaridge.

A big benefactor to the ECD Centres is the Cape Wine Auction Trust that was established in 2014 and raised a sum of R7m in the same year. In 2018 this Trust raised R17m. Hermanus Rotary, Easthampstead Rotary the and Rotary International has been beyond charitable with their time and financial assistance. The wineries of Hermanus contributes generously and individuals such as British triathlete Nicki plays a valuable role to help secure the money needed to do good.
