Great Black-backed Gull – Larus Marinus

The Great Black-backed Gull is really big and the black coat (as it’s called in German – Mantelmöwe) is very impressive. Its pale legs make the difference to the yellow legs of the Lesser Black-backed Gull. Even though this is a typical sea bird (photos from the Baltic Sea) – there is always one wintering in Zurich, Switzerland, at the lake.

I have also a photo portrait of the Black-headed Gull and the Herring Gull.

Check out bird photography weekly #116 to see more birding from around the world for this week.

  1. A Very pretty gull!!

  2. Beautiful pictures. The last one is my favorite! There are gone at sea over here. We don’t see them on land anymore, probably too cold 😉
