Burke Lake Park is a natural and recreational treasure. Visit Burke Lake Park in Northern Virginia to hike, bike, paddle, fish, ride a train, play mini and disc golf, and enjoy family fun. There’s even camping, geocaching, sand volleyball, pavilion rentals, playgrounds and much more throughout the park. Burke is the largest Fairfax County Park lake that boasts a 4.7 mile lake trail. With so much to do, you won’t want to leave.

There’s fun for little ones at Burke Lake Park. First off, there’s the miniature Central Pacific Huntington steam engine which travels 1.75 miles on a trail through the woods.
Other kid-friendly amusements are the carousel, seasonal ice cream parlor, and mini and disc golf courses. The disc golf course is free to play. Discs are available to rent or purchase at the Information Center. Rental discs are $2.00.

The American Hiking Society ranks Burke Lake’s trail as one of the nation’s top 10 urban fitness trails. The trail includes a circuit fitness course. There are also plenty of picnic tables and benches along the way.
We stopped at Burke Lake on our way home from Frying Pan Farm so we didn’t have a lot of time to enjoy the park. We spent some time sitting at the lake enjoying the view and our snacks. We were able to take a quick walk on one of the trails and let the kids play at the park for a bit.
We were really excited to find out about their narrated boat tours. Unfortunately, our visit was during the week, so the boat tours were not running. These 30-minute tours run on the hour on the weekends and are only $4/person. Tours are running weekends April to October from 11 a.m. with the last run at 5 p.m. Tickets can be purchased at the Bait House.
There really is so much to do at Burke Lake. We can’t wait to go back.
