As someone who has trouble with reading and comprehension, I never thought I would be involved in publishing scientific literature as part of my professional career. After completing my Occupational Therapy masters degree , I was offered a position as a research assistant by one of the professors I very much admire. This research was in the mental health area and as much as I was nervous about the amount of reading and focus required, I couldn’t pass up the opportunity!
Right before COVID I was reading through thousands of abstracts and then hundreds of full articles. The meetings with the team of cross country professionals were so informative and amazing to be a part of and I feel like I learned so much in that experience as part of this interprofessional team.
It was a beautiful experience that I definitely would love to be a part of again. I almost forgot that I was a part of it until this past week when the article was posted! I wanted to share it here for discussion points and for others to enjoy as well since it helped me validate, justify and appreciate my practice and philosophy so much more.
