First published article! Psychotherapy in Occupational Therapy

As someone who has trouble with reading and comprehension, I never thought I would be involved in publishing scientific literature as part of my professional career. After completing my Occupational Therapy masters degree , I was offered a position as a research assistant by one of the professors I very much admire. This research was in the mental health area and as much as I was nervous about the amount of reading and focus required, I couldn’t pass up the opportunity!

Right before COVID I was reading through thousands of abstracts and then hundreds of full articles. The meetings with the team of cross country professionals were so informative and amazing to be a part of and I feel like I learned so much in that experience as part of this interprofessional team.

It was a beautiful experience that I definitely would love to be a part of again. I almost forgot that I was a part of it until this past week when the article was posted! I wanted to share it here for discussion points and for others to enjoy as well since it helped me validate, justify and appreciate my practice and philosophy so much more. Feel free to take a look and I’m hoping to post more about the article in relation to my current practice in the future 🙂
