Solvitur Ambulando

Consider sole to ground when life

is a heavy coat, or misery has clogged

any hope of inspiration,

when a problem sticks in the heart,

or grief visits beyond reason,

when prayer feels like fog,

when you are raw-lonely

or barren. Get soul

and mind out in the open —

air, trees, grass, sky —

find the old paths and tread on them.

Solo, with a companion, in a group;

for a moment, an hour, a day;

through the yard, around the park,

the full length of the Camino —

step after step, breath upon breath,

the body and mind become lithe,

and life is made better

by walking.
