What I love about scene cards is that they’re easy to mentally visualize. I get frequent comments and questions about finding creativity or where to find inspiration. The simplest answer I have for that are scene cards, but I like to take that a step further and look for a feeling or an associated memory. For the Craft-a-Flower Tulip, I went somewhere in my memory and made a scene based on the image I remember.
I remember my time overseas while living in Germany, my family and I visited the iconic Holland tulip gardens. The scene I remember as a kid were a sea of tulips, but on this particular day it was foggy in Holland. There was a faint mist that surrounded the tulips next to this creek and it created this haunting daze. I tried to replicate that mysterious feeling around the flowers that I saw in the tulip garden.
I started with assembling the flowers. I made an ink blended panel using the Spring Bouquet family of inks. I used the second and third detail layer to color the flowers and left the base layer a cream cardstock. I also made an ink blended panel from the same ink set for the tulip stems and leaves. Then I made a blue ink blended gradient for the foggy background, die cut a circle in the center, and rotated the circle before gluing it down to my card base. After adding gold splatters, I finished this card off with a sentiment and white sequins.

Such a lovely card – your colour palette is so refreshing. I love the soft blue halo behind the flowers, it makes such a lovely frame.

This is stunning! You are always an inspiration. That circle and the spatters are a gorgeous way to show off those tulips. I like the way you accented them with the additional flowers also.
