Finalized Home Study and Next Steps

We are finally home study approved! We have waited a long time to get to this point and now……we move into the next phase of waiting.

  1. As soon as our home study was finalized Friday afternoon, we were able to register our application with the Indian government. The Central Adoption Resource Agency (CARA) is the governing body over adoption in India.  They will review our home study and make the decision on whether we will be granted initial approval to adopt from their country.  This process usually takes 12 to 20 weeks.  However, there are rare instances where approvals are given much quicker. Once we receive this approval from CARA we can begin the referral and matching process.
  2. We have also submitted our paperwork to the US Citizenship and Immigration Services office.  They will review our home study and schedule us for biometric fingerprinting.  Once our application is accepted we will be granted initial approval to bring Ravi home as a US citizen. This process usually takes about two to three weeks.

We have felt so loved by each of you over the last few months and are grateful for your encouragement and support.  We thank you for your continued prayers as we begin this next phase of the process.

I will close this update with a verse that has been on my mind since Friday.  God is so gracious to give us loving reminders of His faithfulness and promises exactly when we need them. No matter how long we wait or what the outcome may be, we can rest in the assurance that God is working for our good and His glory.

And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose. – Romans 8:28
