After three seasons at UAB, Makhtar Gueye entered into the transfer portal and immediately heard from coaches.

The 6-10 forward from Senegal averaged 6.8 points and 5.1 rebounds per game last season in just 24.5 minutes.

He leaves UAB in good standing. He has no hard feelings. He just had to focus on his future.

“Coaching change,” he said for his reason to transfer. “I wanted to see other options as well.”

Since entering the portal, the 6-10 forward has heard from Mississippi State, Georgia, San Diego State, New Mexico, Miami, Georgetown, Georgia State, Fairfield, Siena, East Carolina, Hawaii, UC Davis, Boise State, Virginia Tech and Southern Illinois.

He plans on narrowing down his list of schools to three or four, “in a week,” he said.
