Adobe versus Venezuela

Adobe threatened Artists & Designers in Venezuela to shut down all accounts. At first all tools like Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, Indesign, Lightroom, Acrobat, Premiere, After Effects been announced to get lost.

Like Adobe announced their tools won’t be available for Venezuela since the US software corporation is going to suspend their subscription-based products for the entire country. As BBC reported Adobe denied service to the creative people of Venezuela. The news wasn’t only disastrous to designers and digital artists who rely on the company’s proprietary software, but for several NGOs, media outlets and freelancers, too.

It’s an unfortunate situation that highlights a downside of Adobe’s subscription-based model for all YOUsers, not just those in Venezuela. It turned out to be a bluff, but it was a wake up call for all Adobe users. They announced that in the end of October the option to pay is going to be removed and all users will immediately lose access to the company’s products. Regardless of the fact that some of them been good customers for a long time. Lucky Adobe managed to get an exception of the executive order 13884 which would have hurt their financial interests the most.

To make the situation even worst, Adobe announced that former clients wouldn’t be able to get refunds for any purchases or outstanding subscriptions. Later an Adobe spokesperson said that the executive order 13884 forced them to take action: “the cessation of all activity with the entities including no sales, service, support, refunds, credits, etc.
