In 1955, pianist Roger Williams recorded the pop hit, “Autumn Leaves,” which became the biggest selling piano recording of all times — even today. The song hit #1 on the Billboard pop music chart and earned a gold record. Williams, born in 1924, was a popular pianist who scored 22 hit singles and 38 hit albums during his lifetime. He died of pancreatic cancer in 2011.

“Autumn Leaves,” performed by Roger Williams. Incredible mastery at the piano!

“Autumn Leaves,” performed by Nat King Cole.
Jazz version sung by Eva Cassidy.

Autumn Leaves

The falling leaves drift by my window
The falling leaves of red and gold
I see your lips the summer kisses
The sunburned hands I used to hold

Since you went away the days grow long
And soon I’ll hear old winter’s song
But I miss you most of all my darling
When autumn leaves start to fall

Since you went away the days grow long
And soon I’ll hear old winter’s song
But I miss you most of all my darling
When autumn leaves start to fall

I miss you most of all my darling
When autumn leaves start to fall

  2. That sixth sense Sister Dawn! As boy I heard these playing in the living room all of the time! My mom loved playing these classical hits constantly! My dad too but he was out working his butt off to feed all the mouths and when I went to work with him during the summer sometimes he played them all too on the radio!

Good memories! If I had no memories like the ones I do then it would be a stranger in a strange land for me!

You sure hit the nail on the head a lot! Had lots of practice pounding nails? I did that helping my uncle build houses as a high school kid summers! Pounded some nails and a thumb or finger too!
