Mercy Healings

Just the title alone sounds unfamiliar and out-of-place. Mercy Healings. We tend to associate mercy with forgiveness and repentance. We directly connect mercy with salvation, and rightly so. However, mercy is also connected with our healing.

Thank God, that in His mercy He has granted us the privilege of repentance! Thank Him too, that His mercy for is also for our healing! The stripes on His back are our reminders that He included our healing in His mercy.

Remember The Story Of The Desperate Mother?

Mt 15:22 And, behold, a woman of Canaan came out of the same coasts, and cried unto him, saying, Have mercy on me, O Lord, thou Son of David; my daughter is grievously vexed with a devil.

Mt 15:23 But he answered her not a word. And his disciples came and besought him, saying, Send her away; for she crieth after us.

Mt 15:24 But he answered and said, I am not sent but unto the lost sheep of the house of Israel.

Mt 15:25 Then came she and worshipped him, saying, Lord, help me.

Mt 15:26 But he answered and said, It is not meet to take the children’s bread, and to cast it to dogs.

Mt 15:27 And she said, Truth, Lord: yet the dogs eat of the crumbs which fall from their masters’ table.

Mt 15:28 Then Jesus answered and said unto her, O woman, great is thy faith: be it unto thee even as thou wilt. And her daughter was made whole from that very hour.

• She Asked For Healing Mercy, And Received It.

Remember The Story Of The Desperate Father?

Mt 17:15 Lord, have mercy on my son: for he is lunatic, and sore vexed: for ofttimes he falleth into the fire, and oft into the water.

Mt 17:18 And Jesus rebuked the devil; and he departed out of him: and the child was cured from that very hour.

• He Asked For Healing Mercy, And Received It.

Remember The Story Of The Two Blind Men?

Mt 20:30 And, behold, two blind men sitting by the way side, when they heard that Jesus passed by, cried out, saying, Have mercy on us, O Lord, thou Son of David.

Mt 20:31 And the multitude rebuked them, because they should hold their peace: but they cried the more, saying, Have mercy on us, O Lord, thou Son of David.

Mt 20:32 And Jesus stood still, and called them, and said, What will ye that I shall do unto you?

Mt 20:33 They say unto him, Lord, that our eyes may be opened.

Mt 20:34 So Jesus had compassion on them, and touched their eyes: and immediately their eyes received sight, and they followed him.

• They Asked For Healing Mercy, And Received It.

Remember The Story Of Blind Bartimaeus?

Mk 10:46 And they came to Jericho: and as he went out of Jericho with his disciples and a great number of people, blind Bartimaeus, the son of Timaeus, sat by the highway side begging.

Mk 10:47 And when he heard that it was Jesus of Nazareth, he began to cry out, and say, Jesus, thou Son of David, have mercy on me.

Mk 10:48 And many charged him that he should hold his peace: but he cried the more a great deal, Thou Son of David, have mercy on me.

Mk 10:49 And Jesus stood still, and commanded him to be called. And they call the blind man, saying unto him, Be of good comfort, rise; he calleth thee.

Mk 10:50 And he, casting away his garment, rose, and came to Jesus.

Mk 10:51 And Jesus answered and said unto him, What wilt thou that I should do unto thee? The blind man said unto him, Lord, that I might receive my sight.

Mk 10:52 And Jesus said unto him, Go thy way; thy faith hath made thee whole. And immediately he received his sight, and followed Jesus in the way.

• He Asked For Healing Mercy, And Received It.

Mercy for healing was always given to those who came asking for mercy. On the other hand, there are examples of the Lord’s mercy coming to those who could not come to Him.

Remember The Story Of The Lame Man At The Pool of Bethesda?

(Did you know that the word Bethesda means Mercy’s House?)

 John 5:2 Now there is at Jerusalem by the sheep market a pool, which is called in the Hebrew tongue Bethesda, having five porches.

John 5:3 In these lay a great multitude of impotent folk, of blind, halt, withered, waiting for the moving of the water.

John 5:4 For an angel went down at a certain season into the pool, and troubled the water: whosoever then first after the troubling of the water stepped in was made whole of whatsoever disease he had.

John 5:5 And a certain man was there, which had an infirmity thirty and eight years.

John 5:6 When Jesus saw him lie, and knew that he had been now a long time in that case, he saith unto him, Wilt thou be made whole?

John 5:7 The impotent man answered him, Sir, I have no man, when the water is troubled, to put me into the pool: but while I am coming, another steppeth down before me.

John 5:8 Jesus saith unto him, Rise, take up thy bed, and walk.

John 5:9 And immediately the man was made whole, and took up his bed, and walked: and on the same day was the sabbath.
