Images of Hawaii – Part 1

Aloha from Hawaii! Yes, we were homesick so we decided to head ‘home for the holidays’. The shoppe is closed as I now spend my days taking photos, relaxing,  (eating too much) and looking for inspiration for more colorways.

Here are a few photos I’ve taken so far.

This is the private beach from the Kahala Hotel & Resort – Kahala, Oahu, Hawaii.

One of the gazebos on the grounds.

Clouds at sunset.

We actually liked the sand ripples in the water in this photo.

More clouds . . .

Feeding time at the Dolphin Lagoon.

These are Bottlenosed Dolphins (yes, my favorite animal. Imagine my excitement!)

My hubby found this little guy while we were walking around . . .

So, here’s what I’ve been working on while on the plane. I brought yarn for 2 pairs of socks and have since finished one sock so now I’m afraid I may need to buy more yarn! (and yes, I’ve already looked for yarn shops in Oahu). This is my Triple Cable Socks using Knitpick’s Palette in Autumn Heather and Imagination in Giant Peach.

Oh! A possible colorway – this is a crab shell I found on the beach with oranges, browns, purples. Pretty!

Maybe another colorway? “Gazebo by the Beach” – hmmmmm

And a pretty orchid that came with our room service tray.

More to come! Enjoy!

    1. Aloha E! We’re having a great time and I’m so glad I have time to knit. The last week was very busy for both me and the hubby so it’s nice to relax. Thanks for checking out the blog 🙂

  2. Christina, as soon as I saw you were taking photos, I kept thinking, “Wow, new inspirations for colorways!” Enjoy your time off from the shop. You deserve it.

Our vacation to Oahu was one of the best we ever had. Since there was no snow for snowmen, we built a coconut man for our Christmas fun. Oh, my, I just realized that was Have a wonderful holiday.

    1. Oops, someone called while I was modifying my post and when I came back I forgot to finish my sentence and hit send instead. I was going to say I just realized it has almost been 20 years since that vacation. Got to get back there!

      1. Ah you’ll have to come back to the islands Cheryl! I’d be more than happy to give you some tips *wink *wink. A good time to come is between Thanksgiving and Christmas as it’s not so busy. We visited Waikiki yesterday for some Christmas shopping and it was busy but not as crazy as we’ve seen in the past. I’m definitely keeping my eye out for new colorways. Hoping to go on a couple of hikes (it’s whale watch season so maybe we can see a few humpbacks on some hikes!) and grab more photos. A coconut man! How fun is that?? LOL – I’ll have to keep my eye out for some coconuts for you 🙂

  3. Christina, Thank you for this wonderful blog. The pictures are awesome. Hope you have a great vacation. It brought back memories of our days in Florida and left me a bit homesick for all the natural beauty there.

    1. Thanks Elaine! It’s been a bit rainy here but it’s still beautiful. Ah, Florida is beautiful too! My grandmother lives in Sarasota and I have fond memories of visiting her. During one visit years ago I brought some DPN’s and a ball of yarn and vowed that I would learn to knit a sock before I returned home. . . I finished my first sock (which was riddled with mistakes) in my grandmother’s backyard. Since that day I’ve traveled with yarn and needles ever since! Happy Holidays :0
