Plans for the David Campbell Fireboat, 1927. The David Campbell was one of three identical fireboats built using this plan and they patrolled the Willamette River during the middle part of the 20th Century. The Campbell was based in Albina, the Mike Laudenklos was stationed near the east end of the Hawthorne Bridge, and the Karl Gunster was stationed in St Johns.
I’ve got better photos of her today, but will have to wait until later when I get home to post them.
Patrolled as recently as 6 years ago, according to Brian Libby’s latest story:

I was so lucky to work on the David Campbell for 10 years.
Brad: The Campbell is still serving the citizens of Portland as a first line apparatus. And believe it or not, it isn’t the oldest continuously operating fire boat on duty in the USA.
There was an earlier boat with the same name.
Karl Gunster today in Newport.
