Only You

Some wish to write like Shakespeare,
Some like Edgar Allan Poe,
Or like a Brontë sister,
There’s only two I know.

But in this world among us,
There’s no one quite like you,
So write the words deep in your heart
Like only you can do.

  4. Why is there no “love” button?

  5. In reading William Shakespeare
    My tang gets toungled up,
    Haven’t read the Brontes
    Since Moses was a pup,

    And only when depressed
Do I read the works of Poe.
    But YOU, dear, are delightful!
And I love the way you flow.

This is so true, Only you can decide how to write, you can be influenced and taught of new ideas but never will they be like your own. Props to writers!! WOOT WOOT

    Awesome as always, Cubby!

  15. I long to write like any and all of them! This is just simply a wonderful piece.

    1. We all wish we could at some point, but this often silences the words in our own hearts wishing to be heard and expressed.

  16. That’s simply…well….simple but so very profound. It’s inspiring.

    1. And your words are simply wonderful to me. 🙂

You know that feeling when you read something and you wish so bad that you had written it? Yeah, that lol Beautifully awesome piece and insanely jealous i didnt write it!
    Amazing.

    1. I think you write so many terrific pieces. 🙂

      1. inbetweenthemadness August 29, 2013 — 1:17 pm

Oh shhh. Only you that reads them! Lol seriously, this was awesome. Short and although it appears a simple poem it’s so hard to get stuff across in so few words and with flawless rhythm and meter. Loved it.

  18. Like only you can do… That means a lot of hardwork. It takes hundreds, even thousands of hours to find a distinctive voice.

    1. Only you can write the words deep in your heart, distinctive or not. There is a distinction. 😉

  19. Sorry I am so behind this week! I have been sick and working at the same time! Love this!

    1. No apologies! Health always comes first! Work is usually not optional. Hope you are feeling better!

  20. So true. And that’s when the truth rings clear as a bell. x

  21. I knew it reminded me of a song, although I can’t remember who sang it. ‘Only you have the right to be you….Only you can..’x

    1. I was curious so I checked out the lyrics, and they are “Only you have the right to me…only you come home every night”. It’s a beautiful love song. 🙂

  22. Think they were called, ‘Fox’. A little piece of useless information. 🙂 x

  23. So true and I absolutely love this poem! Ot is very easy to get caught up in a carbon copy of someone else

    1. Too easy. It’s much harder to hear what your heart is trying to tell you.

  24. This is so lovely. Short and cute…I wonder who is it for :-p

    1. For any writer who ever wished they could write like someone else…which I think would be every writer at one point or another.

      1. Offcourse! Wish I could write as you…like you can write about anything and weave words beautifully.

        1. True happiness from writing comes in discovering the words and message hiding inside you.

          1. Ill remember that cubby 🙂 hope I can use it someday.
