Vacant Lot at Georgia and Otis Still Shows No Signs of Development

The empty lot at Otis Place and Georgia Avenue continues to remain inactive.

The empty lot at Otis Place and Georgia Avenue continues to remain inactive.

Despite having made it through the BZA process in February of this year, the proposed The V planned for the vacant lot on the corner of Otis and Georgia has yet to get underway.

I haven’t been able to reach Velocity to get a good sense of the timetable on this project yet, but according to a reliable source the project is currently on hold.  From a design standpoint, once it gets moving again it would probably be three to four months before the full permit application would be filed.

So, for now, the only thing one can do is to watch and wait.

I often walk by and wonder what is going on with that project. And could you give an update on NDC’s the Vue? I saw the ANC voted to support the extension of their PUD. Do you know anything on the progress of that project? Thanks!

P, from what I heard the Vue is going way of the 32 Apartments the NDC built at Lamont and Georgia after originally filing for half market half affordable, they went ahead and took more subsidies and made it entirely affordable.

The Vue has now filed to take all 100 odd market rate and make them affordable/low income in order to take advantage of the city financing. I’ve written them and of course no comment.

I wonder if the neighborhood will even have a say in this one? I never heard about 32 until it was a done deal.

The word about the Vue changing to low income/affordable from MR was leaked at a Georgia Ave Task Force Meeting a few months back but there has been no comment since.

For clarification, The Vue is the project planned for Georgia and Morton, where the post office is. From what I understand, that project is still moving forward but I don’t know its timeline.

This lot at Otis and Georgia is for the proposed “The V”

It would be easier to tell these projects apart if their names more unique.

Thanks for the clarification Kent. This thread was talking about the Vue by the NDC (much larger project) at GA and Morton though we recognize the article is about the “V”
