It’s been roughly a week since China’s new anti-gaming law went into effect restricting children to three hours of gaming per week on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, as well as holidays, and the law has already created a cottage industry of black market gaming accounts. According to People’s Daily News, a state-affiliated paper in China, Tencent launched a lawsuit this week against over twenty such services.
According to the news story, the companies being sued offer a service where children can pay to rent an account for two hours that bypasses child lock restrictions. The cost? 33 yuan, or about five dollars USD. A high cost, but one that kids are apparently willing to break out their parent’s credit card for.
