(A Pantoum written for OctPoWriMo – Day13)
For I was chained once, within boxes, strong and secure
Wherein I had found a world without agony
Breathing in the safety granted which held an allure
I never dared to think of an outside galaxy.
Wherein I had found a world without agony
I learnt to accept this comfort zone, had no questions
I never dared to think of an outside galaxy,
Till Life taught me to have opinions, demand answers.
I learnt to accept this comfort zone, had no questions
Till I knew I had rights to my words, my voice, my choices
Till Life taught me to have opinions, demand answers.
So I chose to shatter the boxes to pieces
Till I knew I had rights to my words, my voice, my choices
I knew no freedom, I didn’t even know I wasn’t free
So I chose to shatter the boxes to pieces
And take my flight to freedom that came with its fee.
I knew no freedom, I didn’t even know I wasn’t free
To be free, I had to accept myself, and be true
And take my flight to freedom that came with its fee.
Painful enough, though it holds a glory so purely new
To be free, I had to accept myself, and be true
And I’ve come far in this flight of dares and risks
Painful enough, though it holds a glory so purely new
I share my tale of joys and sorrows devoid of all boxes
And I’ve come far in this flight of dares and risks
Breathing in the safety granted which held an allure
I share my tale of joys and sorrows devoid of all boxes
For I was chained once, within boxes, strong and secure!!!
Nice Roshni, We only set our own limitations. I liked this line the most ” To be free, I had to accept myself, and be true”.

Oh wow, Roshni. This is so powerful. Here’s to accepting ourselves and shattering all the boxes that tend to close on us.

You fourt line minted “to think outside the galaxy” in my head. I now believe that thinking outside the box is for beginners ๐ … Lovely write!

Thank you Angela๐๐ And I must admit I’m still in the learning phase๐. Happy to know that you noticed ‘galaxy’. It’s just that when I think of boxes, I feel sort of claustrophobic. Galaxy has an openness where I feel comfortable – it’s just how I see it๐

I can sometimes get lost in galaxy, but I’ll settle for a universe ๐
