To enter the kingdom of heaven.

Jesus proclaims the gospel of the kingdom. He tells us what it is like and who will enter. Remember that He is the way and the gate. Jesus is the only way to enter into God’s kingdom. Many think otherwise. Lots of so-called Christian teaching are heard along the broad way that leads to destruction. It is best to pay attention to the words of our Shepherd.

“Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father who is in heaven will enter. Many will say to Me on that day, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in Your name, and in Your name cast out demons, and in Your name perform many miracles?’ And then I will declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness.'” (Matthew 7:21-23 NASB)

They practiced sin and not righteousness. (John 3:20) Proclaiming God’s word and using His name powerfully means nothing to Jesus if we are not related.

“Someone said to Him, ‘Behold, Your mother and Your brothers are standing outside seeking to speak to You.’ But Jesus answered the one who was telling Him and said, ‘Who is My mother and who are My brothers?’ And stretching out His hand toward His disciples, He said, ‘Behold My mother and My brothers! For whoever does the will of My Father who is in heaven, he is My brother and sister and mother.'” (Matthew 12:47-50 NASB)

Doing the will of His Father, practicing truth, reveals our relationship with Jesus. (John 3:21)
