On the 5th of October 2017 marked one of the historic moment for Brunei Darussalam for both the Royal Family and the proud citizen of the country. It was the celebration of the Golden Jubilee of  His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam’s  50 years of his reign. In the conjunction of the ceremony, His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam and Her Majesty Duli Raja Isteri in the procession around Bandar Seri Begawan on the Royal Carriage. The historic moment was shared among people the citizen and foreigners who came to this celebration which witnesses approximately 80,000 in attendance in the capital.

In order to avoid traffic, we woke up early and came as early as before the dawn. By the time we were there, the capital was influx of people on the streets and long queue on every restaurant we came across. We were starving and ended up buying burgers at one of the local stalls. We were fascinated to see this large number of people came to see the Royal Procession around the Capital and the atmosphere was very exciting.

There were numerous local vendors selling food and beverage, the people playing around with bubbles at the Padang Besar, officially known as “Taman Sultan Haji Omar Ali Saifuddien” and riding bicycle alongside the road.  As well as people taking pictures of the surroundings, their family and friends! Not to forget that there were also traditional performances covering traditional dance and instruments. We were also had an amazing experience joining Indonesian performance, by one of the representative of Indonesia with his guitar, seeing a group of women in their traditional cloth singing to songs that act as an entertainment for the people!

In spite of the scorching heat from the sun and sweat, people were rejoiced to see His Majesty and Her Majesty arrival on the Royal Carriage and accompanied by the rest of the Royal Family which also present were Majesty’s special guests, His Royal Highness Prince Edward Antony Richard Louis, The Earl of Wessex as the personal representative of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth the Second, Queen of The United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, and Her Royal Highness Sophie, Countess of Wessex. The citizen was shouting “Daulat Tuanku” which translated into “Long Live The King” while waving the country’s Flag.

If you were there, the chanted of the citizen would give you goosebumps! We were running around trying to take pictures and videos of His Majesty and the Royal family. Even one of our member went lost, trying to keep up with the crowds! It was indeed one of the proudest moment for all of the Bruneian and how much they love their King. We are very grateful to His Majesty for what he had given both to the country and his people. He never ceases his love and cares for the citizen. Daulat Tuanku!

On His Majesty Titah in the conjunction of the Golden Jubilee:

“The sovereign is responsible for solving the problems of his people, while the people are obliged to be responsive towards their sovereign. This is a mutual obligation for the well-being of all. Together, the sovereign and the people equally hold this great trust,”

His Majesty further stated, “My history is also the history of the people and the nation. As a sovereign, I am unable to sever ties between the people and the nation”

“I also give thanks to Allah the Almighty, that with His blessings the nation is able to celebrate the Golden Jubilee in peace, prosperity and harmony. Today marks a historic event for the country’s citizens and residents”

“If the people see that I am pleased, then the people should be equitably pleased. If I am thankful, so are the people. That is the close ties between the sovereign and the people, with no boundaries in between”

“This is the mainstay of our existence within this nation, which has endured well for 600 years. Let us maintain and continue to nurture it, for many more years to come,” the monarch added”
