IKEA Canada has announced they will be building a new location in Niagara Falls after the purchase of Niagara Square.  Niagara Square was slated to close all of its stores by May 1st, 2017 in order to become an outdoor outlet mall.  However, IKEA Canada recently submitted an offer that mall owner, Ben Dover, could not refuse.

Dover believes that this move will bring millions of dollars to the local economy as “locals and tourists will flock to the new site to fulfill their masochistic desire to build their own furniture.”

In anticipation of the increased demand for skilled Allen key technicians, Niagara College is launching a new corresponding program in Fall 2017.  Jo King, a resident of the nearby Imagine development, said she is “thrilled to have IKEA in my backyard.  If only it were true.  Happy April Fool’s Day!”
