Let’s Talk Gunpla Vol.301

Another 21st Century Surprise

HELLO! We are back!

In today’s 301st edition of our Let’s Talk Gunpla segment, we will be taking a look at The Gundam Base Limited’s newest Gunpla release announcement. Interestingly enough, we will be getting a new 21st Century Real Type Version kit! Definitely, a release that we didn’t expect to see coming from The Gundam Base Limited chaps.

An announcement that definitely took us all here by surprise indeed.

So, without further ado, let us get into it, shall we?

HG 1/144 The Gundam Base Limited RX-178 Gundam Mk.II (AEUG)(REVIVE Ver.) (21st Century Real Type Ver.)(HGUC)

Release Date: 21st June 2021
Estimated price: JPY 1,870 (MYR RM 70.48* / USD $ 17.07* / EUR € 14.03*)
*The price is subject to change, depending on the situation

We were genuinely were quite surprised and pleased when we saw this announcement.

Why? Well, let us explain why. First, let’s explain why we are surprised to see this.

We were surprised to see this version of the HGUC AEUG MK.II because we thought the “21st Century Real Type Version” kits were supposed to cover all the UC OYW MS design only. Yes, we didn’t expect them to do it for the Z Gundam MS designs.

In which brings us to the next bit as to why we are so pleased to see this.

That is because it means that there is a HUGE possibility that, one, we would see the REVIVE MK. II TITANS version gets a “21st Century Real Type Ver.” treatment. Secondly, and lastly, it would also mean we would see them do for other UC kits series as well.

And that got us all excited about the prospect of that being a reality.

But enough of us talking nonsense here. So what we all think of The Gundam Base Limited’s handiwork here?

Well, honestly, it is technically just the same HGUC MK.II, but with a different color scheme. But even with that said, we do think that the HG MK.II 21st Century Real Type Version looked fantastic. We like the darker color scheme used on the 21st Century Real Type Version’s HGUC AEUG MK.II here, it makes the very familiar look of the HGUC MK.II look unfamiliar. Not to mention the color scheme on this HGUC kit looked even better than its more standard counterpart too.

What’s more, we here think that the new decals make the already badass 21st Century Real Type Version of the HGUC MK.II kit looks even more of a badass here. The design of the decals looked so good here that we think that it goes well with the color scheme of the kit.

But best of all, they even go as far as to give this HGUC 21st Century Real Type one of the best Boxart that we have seen to date. Why? Well, that’s because from what we can see here, they made the HGUC 21st Century Real Type Version MK.II’s boxart looked like a homage to the 1985’s 1/144 scale no grade release of the MK.II’s boxart.

And that makes this kit a lot more appealing to us all here to get.

With that concludes our 301st edition of the Let’s Talk Gunpla segment. It’s interesting to see what the new 21st Century Real Type Version kit looked like here, which gives us hope that we would see more 21st Century Real Type Version kits in the near future.

Anyways, we will be back again this coming Thursday (hopefully) with more Gunpla/ Gundam merch-related posts for this blog, so yes, please do look forward to that!
