Ghar ka Tiffin

The name of this restaurant always reminds me of my mom’s cooking and that is what they aim to provide – tasty homely food that is not overly oily and is nutritious, unlike many other Indian restaurants.

Their menu is a mix of vegetarian and non-vegetarian dishes from North India and many dishes have a blend of veggies and non-veg. in a unique way.

Located in Cluster N in Jumeirah Lakes Towers (JLT), this restaurant caters to dine-in guests, takeaways and home deliveries. They also have monthly meal options where people can get food delivered for lunch/dinner or both on a monthly basis. They also have an All-Day Breakfast menu and the rates are very reasonable.

Follow my food journey at Ghar ka Tiffin and don’t tell me I didn’t warn you…. You’ll be left drooling by the end 🤤

We started off on a very healthy note with Quinoa Avocado 🥑 Salad. Try this even if you’re not an 🥑 person, the crunchy sprouts with the mashed avocado makes it tasty and wholesome. Next up was Masala Chia Idly. Loved this unique idea of incorporating chia seeds into the idli batter and then sautéing it in fried onions and curry leaves. It’s good on its own or with some chutney and it makes for a perfectly healthy snack or meal too!!!

The kebabs that were served really surprised me. There was Quinoa Chicken Seekh Kebab & Beetroot Chicken Tikka. Regular chicken kebabs were transformed into even more healthier versions using quinoa and beetroot. They were tasty and a bit spicy too but nothing that an Indian palate can’t handle.

Huge chunks of Tawa Fried Kingfish were then served. I have to say that it wasn’t oily and the marinade was just perfect.

What we had next was crunchy, tasty, and yet so simple that we all just kept on munching on it. Kurkuri Bhindi makes for a delicious snack and the kids will just love it.

For the mains, we had a large variety of dishes. There was Beetroot Dal, Butter Chicken & Paneer served with fresh roti.

We also had two types of Chicken Biriyani – the rice version and one made with Quinoa instead of rice. The Quinoa Chicken Biriyani stood out in terms of concept, but both were equally delicious and the chicken pieces were tender and well-marinated.

Last but not at all the least was Rose Infused Rice Pudding. This sweet dish did put a sweet ending to the wonderful food journey that I had at Ghar ka Tiffin.

Ghar ka Tiffin is run by two amazing ladies who want to serve not just tasty but wholesome, nutritious food, and I have found my go-to place for healthy, delicious Indian food just a phone-call away.
