Editorial column: Welcome to the August issue of Celebrate:MK, which is the best month of the year for teachers and football fans.

Teachers are rejoicing that the school summer holidays are finally here – as are two of our mummy columnists.

Susie Lodge has picked out four local ‘extreme’ activities for parents to enjoy with their children this summer (page 18), while blogger Ginger Mum (page 16) offers her own fun ideas.

However, football fans will be ecstatic for a very different reason – the new season is here!

The Football League kicks off on August 5, which means the return of MK Dons (page 5).

I spent almost a decade reporting on the Dons for the Press Association, The Football League Paper and the MK Citizen so I’ll always have a soft spot for them and go to games when I can.

In other news, I’d like to thank everyone who has congratulated Elli and I on our marriage last month.
