Chapter 167: Reckless

Kagome clambered recklessly, hoping she wasn’t hurting Sesshoumaru any more than he already was. Her light blazed into one scarlet eye. His pupil narrowed, and the stripes vanished from his fur, surprise pulling him out of a darkening mood.

When had she started babbling? “…such a sweetheart, even if he was a grump. And Rin loved you just as much.”

Sesshoumaru’s ears pricked toward her urgent undertones.

“Their admiration made you admirable in my eyes,” she admitted. “In a way, they connected us before our wish ever did.”

Biting her lip, she stroked his face, waiting for color to return.
