AIR FRYER – FRIED SHRIMP
Ingredients:
Raw Shrimp, peeled
Fish Fry
Yellow Mustard
Tony’s Chachere
Cooking Spray or Olive Oil Mist
Directions:
Peel your shrimp and place in a plate. Sprinkle with Tony’s Chachere or seasoning of your choice (keep in mind that you are not using oil, so you could use a little less seasoning than you normally would). Drizzle shrimp with mustard then mix all together to coat well.
Place fish fry in a small zip loc bag and place a few shrimp (about 5-6) in the fish fry. Close the bag and shake well to coat the shrimp. Continue until you have done this process with all shrimp you will be cooking. Place the shrimp (without over lapping) in the air fryer basket (will probably take about 15 or so at a time depending on the size). Spray with cooking spray or mist with olive oil to coat the fish fry.
Place basket into fryer and put the fryer on 330 degrees for 8 minutes. Flip your shrimp, spray again and put back in fryer on 330 for 7 minutes. Shrimp should be cooked nice and crispy. (if your first 8 minute side still has a good bit of dried fish fry, spray again before flipping).
This did not work for me at all! They never browned.

You have to make sure you completely coat each one on both sides with cooking spray so the batter looks wet. If you do this step, they will brown and get crispy. Otherwise, the batter says dry and not cooked. Sorry it didn’t work out this time. Hopefully you will try it again.

Fish Fry is a premixed batter made in New Orleans. You can either use cornmeal or flour and add a little seasoning to it before you batter your shrimp. Just make sure when you batter something in the air fryer that you completely spray it with cooking spray so that it is wet

I”m experimenting with my new air fryer and found spraying with olive oil is not needed if you coat w/ seasoned flour. Just wait till the moisture of the meat soaks the breading[you can see it turn wet] then drop it in the fryer, comes out brown & crispy. Have not tried the shrimp as yet, but it sure works w/ chicken!

I’m glad that worked for you. It didn’t for me. My batter did not turn wet and it ended up staying dry batter when it finished. I will try that way on chicken as it is more moist than shrimp. Thanks for the tip.

I really hope you enjoy. Just make sure you completely wet the batter on both sides with cooking spray or the batter will stay dry. Otherwise they come out very crispy and delicious

So you have to spray the battered shrimp with cooking oil?

I use Pam cooking spray and yes, you have to coat both sides or wherever you leave dry will stay dry. I’m sure you can mist with olive oil as well

I’m late to the game. I would consider myself, something before a novice on air frying.
All I can say is, Wow! I saw this recipe and had to try it. Mine did not cone out as crispy, but I think adding one more minute will do the trick.
That said, I followed the instructions and it worked! Thanks for the recipe!
