HAPPY NEW YEAR TO EVERYONE!

McKENDREE MINISTRIES!

SUNDAY WORSHIP SERVICES  are regularly at 9am and 11am.  (On Fifth Sundays we have one combined worship service at 10am.)  Our January Sermon Series is “Priorities from Proverbs.”  In the new year, knowing and doing God’s priorities will position us to live a harmonious and fruitful life.  Honoring God with our lives brings glory to God’s holy name.  Join us this month as we explore the Scriptures and learn from Proverbs about God’s priorities of Trust, Wisdom, Integrity and Motives.  Let’s live life to the fullest by faith in Christ Jesus!

BAPTISM   If you are interested in being baptized, please contact Ruth in the church office at mckendreeinfo@gmail.com or 615-271-2600.

ENCOUNTER MINISTRY  We invite you to join us this Sunday afternoon at 12:30pm at the offices of the United Methodist Publishing House at 2222 Rosa L. Parks Blvd, for our Encounter service.  The Encounter is an alternative service for those who feel “church” is not for them.  We are disrupting the passive model of Christian gathering and building bridges of hope around tables where we encounter God in and with our neighbor and engage the neighborhood.  For more information on our Encounter Ministry, you may contact Rick Quinn at mckendreerick@gmail.com.

REFRESH! is our mid-week gathering.  We meet in the first floor chapel each Wednesday, 12:00-12:30pm.  Our worship includes prayers, music, a message and Holy Communion.  Everyone is invited to attend.

WEDNESDAY NIGHT BIBLE STUDY   Next week (January 10), our Wednesday night adult Bible study group will begin a study of the book The Screwtape Letters by C.S. Lewis.  Of the more than 60 books by C.S. Lewis, this is one of his most well-known classics.  You will find this book interesting, humorous and enlightening.  We welcome everyone to join with us for this study series.  We meet each Wednesday at 6pm in Pastor Stephen’s office.

SCOUT APPRECIATION BREAKFAST, SUNDAY, January 14!  Our Boy Scout Troop 219 wants to say thanks and show their appreciation for the support of the McKendree Church family.  They are doing this by inviting you to BREAKFAST AT 10am on Sunday, January 14th.  This is NOT a fundraiser; there is no cost to you.  Come and enjoy a time of food and fellowship.  All the better since you don’t have to cook!  Everyone is invited!

OPPORTUNITY FOR SERVICE!

CLOTHES CLOSET NEEDS!   Although the temperatures this week haven’t broken any records (the record low for January 5 is -10˚ in 1884), it certainly has felt like it!  The cold weather means we need lots of warm clothing for our clothes closet.  Specifically we need:

— winter clothing, especially for men (sweaters, jeans sweatshirts and pants)
— coats, hats, scarves, gloves for men and women
— blankets
— help to fold, sort and put away the clothing!
We need help in the mornings or afternoons, when the closet is not open to the public.  One time help or weekly, monthly help – all is appreciated!

Donations may be brought to the church on Sunday or during the week.  Call Ruth Baggett before bringing donations during the week, so she knows you’re coming.  If you can help in the closet, please call Ruth to schedule a time.  Ruth’s number is 615-271-2600 or you can email her at mckendreeinfo@gmail.com.
