Dave Chappelle returns to the spotlight

Comedian Dave Chappelle will host “Saturday Night Live” on the Nov. 12 episode, NBC announced on Friday. This will be the first time that Chappelle has ever hosted the show.

A Tribe Called Quest will be the evening’s musical guest to promote their first album in 18 years, “We Got It From Here … Thank You 4 Your Service.”

A comedian, writer and actor, Chappelle is best known as a standup, and for his sketch comedy show “Chappelle’s Show” which ran on Comedy Central between 2003 and 2006. His film credits include “Robin Hood: Men in Tights” and “The Nutty Professor.” He also stars in the 1998 film “Half Baked” which he wrote with Neal Brennan. Recently, Chappelle appeared in Spike Lee’s 2015 film “Chi-Raq.”

Before Chappelle takes the “SNL” stage, Benedict Cumberbatch will host the next episode on Nov. 5. Solange will accompany the “Doctor Strange” star, following the release of her third studio album “A Seat at the Table.”

The 42nd season of “Saturday Night Live” premiered to the show’s largest ratings in eight years. The episode was hosted by Margo Robbie and featured Alec Baldwin as Donald Trump. “Hamilton” creator Lin-Manuel Miranda, Tom Hanks and Emily Blunt have also hosted episodes this season.

Chappelle notably has the honor of hosting the first “SNL” episode following election Tuesday on Nov. 8.
