*Spins wheel* And we get…wait for it…a special snowflake! That special little snowflake who isn’t like other girls, they’re normal. There’s this description of the book right before them in this Gods and Mortals box set and literally, a sentence of the description of this book is “Sixteen year old Kara Nightingale is unpopular, awkward, and positively ordinary, that is until one day she is struck by a bus and dies.” See what I mean? Special snowflake.

I couldn’t even finish this book, I got to chapter seven and I had to put it down. So, here’s what I gathered so far.

The characters just don’t seem very developed, Kara is, of course, the special snowflake who lands a hot guardian angel who…well he’s hot. That seems to be the main focus of his character, along with being so obnoxious that I want to reach through the book and slap him. I don’t know if he’s joking about everyone liking him or not because it’s quite obvious that no one likes him.

Kara is just so full of questions that David, the hot guy, has to continually remind her that they are on a time limit, they have to get somewhere quick and she’s just sitting there…asking more questions. Move and ask, Kara, move and ask.

I think that there’s something in David’s eye, he’s always winking and smiling and dancing. You’re trying way too hard David, settle down.

And the monkeys…I don’t get the monkeys. Why are there monkeys?

Of course her mom is a guardian angel, why not? Special snowflake Kara has been so embarrassed by her mother she’s thought of running away and when she finds out that what her mother is going through is legit, oh she feels so bad.

And how her mother became a guardian is confusing and this is when I stopped reading. Her mom died, her soul went up then came back down immediately a moment before she died so it would look like she didn’t die?

I just don’t get anything in this book, even the cover is confusing. That cover makes me think of witches, not guardian angels and monkeys and whatever else this is.

Thank you for reading my review.
