So there’s some great news for Persona fans (or really, any ATLUS fan). On August 5th, SEGA held an investor Q&A to go alongside with their new financial report, during which they discussed how well their Steam releases have been selling. Well, one investor finally asked the question we’ve all been thinking: “With Persona 4 Golden doing so well on Steam, are there any plans to sell newly released games on Steam as well?”.

SEGA had quite the response to this. They first noted that Persona 4 Golden‘s sales were much stronger than expected, specifically citing the game’s critical acclaim and low selling price as the reasons why. They then went on to state that they “will continue to actively promote porting previously released titles to Steam and new platforms”. Additionally, they also said that they were negotiating with platform holders for new games in the future, including measures to prepare such games with a PC version from the beginning, rather than porting it much later down the road.

ATLUS has been teasing us for years with their surveys asking what games we want ported to PC, so this is fantastic news for us PC gamers. It looks like SEGA is going to be taking a more active role in getting these games released on PC, maybe their work with Persona 4 Golden finally pushed ATLUS to see all the potential money they can make on this platform.

I mean, I don’t know about you, but I imagine that any Persona game they release on PC will do pretty well, especially if they give it a quality port like they did with Golden. Well that and the low pricing (I’m still surprised that they went with $20 instead of milking that game for maybe $40 or so, but I’m definitely not complaining). It’s honestly about time. The PC platform is a gold mine for such games and it’s baffling to me that it has taken this long for Japanese companies to start taking note.

As for what games they should port, the most obvious would probably be Persona 3 and Persona 5. Those two are pretty much a no-brainer, but it wouldn’t be odd for them to maybe bring over Persona 5 Scramble as well, especially given that the devs behind that one have a ton of games available on PC already. Scramble did just get a Western version announced, but PC was not mentioned, so we’ll probably have to wait a bit on that one.

Then you got the stuff like Shin Megami Tensei V and Shin Megami Tensei III: Nocturne HD Remaster, which are also developed by ATLUS and were recently announced for a 2021 release. Given that Persona is a spin-off of that series, it wouldn’t be odd to see those arrive on PC at some point as well.

However, we can go back even further, as SEGA also said they were looking at bringing already released titles onto Steam. Off the top of my head, I can think of Catherine: Full Body, Dragon’s Crown, and the entirety of the Etrian Odyssey series. A lot of these are hard to come by too, especially the older Persona games like 1 and 2. They’re sitting on top of a bunch of great games here, games practically begging to be ported to PC.
