Alfred Hitchcock’s ‘Lifeboat’ is Now on Blu-ray for the First Time

Although it isn’t really a horror film, Alfred Hitchcock’s Lifeboat is a tense little war flick that works for a number of reasons. Chief among those reasons are the characters, a lively lot with some memorable quirks.

It’s a solid, underrated Hitchcock piece that deserves to be discovered by a new generation, and now Kino Lorber is giving us a chance to see this one in a way we never have before; Kino Lorber, for the record, is one of the finer companies pumping out classic and rare horror, there’s no doubt we’ll see a beautiful image and hear some crisp audio from this awesome release.

Lifeboat stars Tallulah Bankhead, John Hodiak, William Bendix, Walter Slezak, and Mary Anderson.

Synopsis:

In the Atlantic during WWII, a ship and a German U-boat are involved in a battle and both are sunk. The survivors from the ship gather in one of the boats. They are from a variety of backgrounds: an international journalist, a rich businessman, the radio operator, a nurse, a steward, a sailor and an engineer with communist tendencies. Trouble starts when they pull a man out of the water who turns out to be from the U-boat.
