Wearmouth CW vs Easington Colliery

Colliers beaten by Wearmouth

Easington Colliery were beaten 6-4 against Wearmouth CW in a pre-season friendly on Wednesday night.

In a very open and unpredictable game, Sam Conway, Brad Forster, Kyle Middleton and Nathan O’Neill were all on the scoresheet for the Colliers, but they were sandwiched between six Wearmouth goals.

The Colliers took the lead within the opening three minutes as Conway finished well having been played in by Middleton, but Wearmouth equalised in the 17th minute before taking the lead 20 minutes later.

In the 39th minute, Forster powered a header into the net to pull the Green Army level.

It was 2-2 at half-time following a 41-and-a-half minute first half.

Within the opening five minutes of the second half, Wearmouth went 3-2 up through a header from a corner, before Middleton pulled the Colliers level again when his powerful strike took a deflection to loop into the far corner.

Ben Henderson then had a goal ruled out, before Wearmouth made it 4-3 halfway through the second half.

Once again, the Colliers soon pulled level. This time, it came courtesy of O’Neill when his 79th minute header clipped the crossbar on its way into the net.

At 4-4, it could have gone either way, but it was Wearmouth who claimed the win with two goals in the last 10 minutes.
