In Clash of Clans, it is really important to know what to upgrade and in what order, regardless if you are Town Hall 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, or 11 in Clash. Upgrading defenses is key to getting a lot better in the Clash of Clans and to be able to push a lot higher!

Clash of Clans Upgrade Order

1. Eagle Artillery

The Eagle Artillery is exclusive at Town Hall 11 and should thus be treated as such. For all of you TH10 and below, don’t worry much about this, but you guys at TH11, try to get this built and upgraded as quickly as possible.

2. Infernos

Once again, all of you players down at Town Hall 9 and below, don’t worry about this at all! Infernos are only meant for players at TH10. Really try to get infernos upgraded quickly, since they do some much more damage per upgrade!

3. X-Bows

Kind of feel like I’m repeating myself, but for X-Bows only worry about it if you are Town Hall 9 and 10. Getting your X-Bows to 3 at Town Hall 9 is really good, and can help you out a ton in defending and in clan wars. Try to build and upgrade as fast as you can.

4. Collectors, Mines, Drills

The reason that these are so high up on the upgrade priority is because they are so valuable for you to start pumping out a ton of elixir. A lot of players could just farm a bunch of loot, but most of us don’t have the time. Upgrading your collectors, mines, and drills will let you produce maximum resources to upgrade everything below this even faster!

5. Heroes

Honestly, heroes are one of the best defenses, offensive, and Clash of Clans defining things in the game. Each level for a hero may seem like a grind, but every 5 and it gets that much better. I would recommend going Archer Queen to Grand Warden to Barbarian King for your upgrading order, but really it depends on how you use them.

6. Mortars, Wizard Towers, Air Defense

Up 6th in the upgrade order are the main 3 defenses that are available at basically every Town Hall level. These 3 are the most important to upgrade over cannons and the like because they are very powerful. The faster you get these up, the better you will defend at your new Town Hall level.

7. Barracks, Spell Factory

While some of you might want to upgrade these right away, it is better to wait and get accustomed to your new TH level. Therefore, it is better to wait after a while and easily get used to these new unlocks! It certainly is cool, but usually unlocking a new troop doesn’t even matter until it is upgraded!

8. Cannons, Archer Towers, Teslas, Air Sweepers

Second to last, we have the “weaker” defenses of cannons, archer towers, hidden teslas, and the air sweeper. These will still help you defend your base a lot easier, but they aren’t as important as the ones listed earlier.

9. Walls

Walls are last not because they are the worst upgrade but because they are SO expensive for so many of them. You should do walls when you are getting ready to upgrade to a new Town Hall level and just want to finish off what you have so that you are maxed. Caution: these will take a while to max, especially at TH9 and 10.
