Familiar spot, unfamiliar city

It’s Monday night and I’m in a Buffalo Wild Wings. So why does it feel strange?

It’s because I’m much closer to home than I usually am when I’m at Buffalo Wild Wings on a Monday. Instead of the almost four-hour ride to Kansas City, I’m only an hour away from Russell, at the new Buffalo Wild Wings in Salina on South Ninth Street.

This will probably be the start of a new Monday routine, although it will be interrupted the next two Mondays. Next Monday I have basketball at Hoisington, and then the following Monday (Jan. 26), I have to be in Kansas City on family business. If I do go to a B-Dubs that night in KC, it will be in Kansas. NO WAY am I going back to Zona Rosa, at least not until I can calm myself and get back in everyone’s good graces.

I will usually go back to Russell on nights when I come to Buffalo Wild Wings in Salina, but not tonight. I have a lot of work to get done for the newspapers by 3 p.m. tomorrow, and have a basketball game at Southeast of Saline in Gypsum, so it’s much easier to stay. I’m at the Courtyard on Schilling, about half a mile from Buffalo Wild Wings.

I thought about staying through the conclusion of the Oregon-Ohio State national championship football game, but I might leave earlier. Depends on how I’m feeling.

Turns out the Dillon’s at Ninth and Magnolia in Salina does have sushi. I still have to make a run to Wichita at some point this week to go to the bank, which I’m hoping can be Wednesday afternoon.

I am trying like hell to stay off Facebook today. And tomorrow. And the day after that. I wish Elaine Mercer could communicate some other way. I hate Facebook right now. Really hate it.

About David

Louisiana native living in Kansas. New Orleans born, LSU graduate. I have Asperger’s Syndrome, one toe less than most humans, addictions to The Brady Bunch, Lifetime movies, Bluey, most sports, food and trivia. Big fan of Milwaukee Bucks, Milwaukee Brewers, New Orleans Saints, Montreal Canadiens. Was a big fan of Quebec Nordiques until they moved to Denver. My only celebrity crush is NFL official Sarah Thomas. I strongly dislike LSU fans who think Alabama is its biggest rival, warm weather, steaks cooked more than rare, hot dogs with ketchup, restaurants without online ordering, ranch dressing, Donald Trump, Bernie Sanders, LeBron James, Michael Jordan, Tom Brady, Alex Ovechkin, Barry Bonds, Putin, his lover in Belarus, North Korean dictators, Venezuelan dictators, all NHL teams in the south (especially the Lightning and Panthers), Brooklyn Nets and Major League Soccer.
