River Arts Call to Artists for “Black, White, Grey” Exhibition

River Arts, a non- profit art center on Route 1 in Damariscotta invites Maine artists to submit work for the upcoming “Black, White, Gray” juried exhibition. The exhibition dates are: January 24 – February 20th with an opening reception January 24 from 5-7 pm. Submissions should be dropped off Friday, Jan. 17 & Saturday, Jan 18th for jurying on Sunday. Work can be all of one color and any variation of them.

Juror for the Exhibition will be Bob Keyes, Visual & Performing Arts feature writer for the Portland Press Herald.

All media, styles and subjects are welcome. All work entered must be for sale. Wall-hung work size maximum: 60 inches in height, 42 inches in width – and for safety reasons plexiglass or other non-glass option should be used for work over 34 inches, excluding pastels. Early submissions are accepted within usual gallery hours.

Artists may submit up to three works for an entry fee of $15 for members, $20 for non-members. Artists will be notified by email or phone of the juror’s decision. Submissions may not have been shown at River Arts previously. Entry forms are available online at http://www.riverartsme.org and at the gallery when submitting.

River Arts holds 10 themed, open, juried exhibitions per year—with some of Maine’s most prominent art community members as jurors. Over 600 different Maine artists have exhibited in these shows. The gallery program creates opportunity for artists to have their work selected, participate in the gallery process and sell their work. Over 7,000 people visited the gallery and participated in events and workshops last year.

The mission of River Arts is to nurture and encourage participation in the arts throughout the region of Midcoast Maine by providing exhibition, studio and performance spaces, classes and workshops, for people of all ages and abilities and support a wide range of activities in artistic disciplines by partnering with other arts and performance organizations to produce program.
