Why have you forsaken me

Now from the sixth hour there was darkness over all the land until the ninth hour. And about the ninth hour Jesus cried out with a loud voice, saying, “Eli, Eli, lema sabachthani?” that is, “My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?” Matthew 27:45-46

For our sake he made him to be sin who knew no sin, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God. 2 Corinthians 5:21

All alone, Mary and John have left him, the disciples are looking on from a distance, fear and sadness combined preventing them from getting any closer.
After three long hours of deep darkness, Three long hours of pain, dying alone,  Jesus turns to Dad, as he always does: But yet, even the Father is silent, the heavy gates of heaven a slammed shut. Even the prayers of the one Son of God rebound back unheard.

Silence, deep silence.

Abandoned by all, Jesus dies alone.

What father can bear to watch his son die?

For the sins of us all, Your sin, My sin, everything you have done that was so bad; everything you have done that was not good; everything you failed to do that was good. That is why Jesus came.

My sin becomes his sin; your sin becomes his sin. The one who did not sin takes our sin; the one that did not sin becomes our sin. The one who did not sin takes the penalty for my sin, for your sin, for the worlds sin

His righteousness becomes my righteousness.
His righteousness becomes your righteousness.

Jesus takes the penalty, those who believe in him get the reward.
