Walking amongst chimpanzees in Uganda – A Top Travel Experience

Lush green forests.
A scurry amongst the leaves.
The call of the wild amongst shaking trees.
These are the things that make me feel wild and free.

As part of my East African adventure back in 2011, I visited Uganda and Kibale Forest where the chimpanzees roam free.

It’s amazing how fast they can move, even when they are on the ground in groups! Luckily I managed a few snaps of one chimp pondering life.

The region around Kibale Forest is lined with tea plantations and a real raw and natural way of life. Like much of Africa, it really puts our life in perspective seeing how simple and free others live.

If you ever get the chance to visit the Chimpanzees, I recommend taking plenty of wet weather gear and clothes for foggy camera lenses. Kibale forest is known for plenty of rain and our tents got soaked, we were just lucky for a bit of a reprieve in the weather for our little trek into the forest.

Make sure you bring long socks too to avoid getting bitten by the huge ants!
