My Battle Armor

battle armor
I’ve been posting very sporadically on this blog lately as I try to finish all my classes and manage my new work load. I thought I’d do a quick post on the products that I use to “get me through” during this very demanding and stressful time. These are all products that I take with me in my bag and reach for through out the day. They’re become my “heavy hitters” as far as skin dependency so therefore I’m calling this my battle armor to look my best even when I don’t have time to really do it.

Tatcha Soothing Silk Hand Cream: a very light but moisturizing hand cream that has a silky consistency and a blue hue that dissipates as the cream is smoothed around. When I don’t take care of my hands, they can lose their softness yet if I coat it with something thick, it feels suffocating and this cream strikes the perfect balance. An added bonus is the absolutely happy scent, that is the only way I can describe it!

YULI Cellular Lip Conditioner: this has been recommended for serious in-flight lip pampering and an editor recommended it as a winter hangover helper for dry, dehydrated lips. The all-nighters and surprising winters during Spring have put this to the test and it rose to the challenge. This leave on serum sinks quickly into skin and softens dry/chapped areas while working to heal wounds. It also makes lips more resilient as I’ve noticed less reliance on balms. This is gold.

Mun Aknari Dream Youth Serum: this recently reviewed serum is wonderful for those with chaotic lives because the three ingredient potion means it is not likely to cause a reaction and just do its job which is keeping my skin moisturized and fed with the basics. In fact after pulling an all nighter recently, I went home at 8 AM (being up for all of 15 hours), washed my face and skipped everything all together except for a pump of this serum and went off to dream land.

YULI Panacea Elixir: this is light and refreshing. It has been said before from other reviews but I’ve used lots of sprays and this one really is super fine and super light and doesn’t just settle on top of skin. The reason I love this is because it quickly makes skin feel better when it feels tired or dry but also has lots of ingredients that work to make sure skin stays problem free thanks to a healthy dose of anti-inflammatory ingredients.

Ellis Faas Foundation Pen: the dispenser is hit or miss but the liquid foundation is not. Wonderful coverage in a deceptively light application that leaves skin with that your skin but better appearance. Even when skin looks lifeless and dull, this slim foundation pen can brighten and even complexion in a matter of minutes thanks to the applicator/dispenser brush tip. Look for a full review soon.

Ellis Faas Milky Lips: this is the lines standout product, renowned for its pigmented coverage. It’s a liquid lipstick that offers buildable coverage whether you’re looking for something more casual or a striking statement. The color spectrum is nearly universal because Ellis Faas, as a special effects artist drew inspiration from “human colors” or colors that naturally exist. For me, it’s a quick way to amp it up with two swipes when I’m feeling a little lackluster and layered over the YULI lip conditioner, it’s got a long wear, hydrating dewy finish.

  1. Love your picks–I’m hunkering down for battle too, and last night broke out my Mun for the first time in response to some food/stress-related cystic acne. Good luck with everything!

  2. I really want to try the Tatcha Soothing Silk Hand Cream! I have such dry hands and some of my fingers are cracked, extra dry & bleed, don’t know what it is, but this hand cream sounds wonderful! Thanks!

  3. I too love the Ellis Faas foundation, but agree with LLL that the concealer is HG material – nothing else comes remotely close. Which Milky Lips color do you use? I tried one, the raspberry one, but it pulled so warm on me that I found it to be very unflattering.

The eyeshadows are fabulous as well…

    • Yes nearly everyone who uses the concealer raves about it! I use Milky Lips in Nude Pink which is very subtle but noticeable enough.. I can’t quite explain or do it justice but it’s quite perfect when I want to look “casually put together”. I recommend trying the colors in person because some can be too bold while others blend in

  4. So what cleansers’ are a part of your battle armor??
My skin reacts and breaks out when not in balance. It always has a few breakouts very seldom will it be clear. I find the cleanser so important.

    • Hi Yvonne, I use SO MANY products but I think for a balancing cleanser perfect for reactive/breakout prone skin is YULI Halcyon. I really do admire how gentle it is while it also cleans my skin. This is the cleanser I wish was released when my skin was at its worst because it also doesn’t strip my skin (which took me a long time to learn actually made my skin worse and imbalanced).
