Don Lemon to Terry Crews: Don’t like Black Lives Matter? Start your own movement

Christie D’Zurilla portrays Lemon’s treatment of Crews as largely abusive.

Whereas Crews opined that BLM needs to take up the issue of black folk murdering each other, Lemon insisted that BLM’s sole focus is police brutality.

Crews answered, and Christie D’Zurilla verifies, that BLM has in fact taken on a broad spectrum of issues; at least, if one website is to be believed.

She links to, and quotes from, this website that she purports to be that of “the organization.”  Now, I don’t know that the movement is the same as an organization, nor do I know if any organization can truly claim to speak for a movement.  I visited the website mentioned, for reasons to be given below; but there are many websites with similar names — Anyone can buy a name for a website. — and I remain without knowledge whether or not this one has any relation to those who launched the movement, Patrisse Cullors, Alicia Garza, and Opal Tometi.

I visited the website because she quoted this snippet and that snippet that might not mean what she made them appear to, in context.

There is this:

We make our spaces family-friendly and enable parents to fully participate with their children. We dismantle the patriarchal practice that requires mothers to work “double shifts” so that they can mother in private even as they participate in public justice work.

We disrupt the Western-prescribed nuclear family structure requirement by supporting each other as extended families and “villages” that collectively care for one another, especially our children, to the degree that mothers, parents, and children are comfortable.

I’m not so sure that the nuclear family is “Western-prescribed.”  But what strikes me most, here, is that there is no role for  FATHERS.
