Ein Blick zurück ins 2012: INVASION

espace libre, Art Centre Pasquart, Biel/Bienne (CH)
03.2012 – 09.2012
Curated by Laura Sánchez Serrano & Manon Engel

INVASION is an exhibition series curated by Laura Sánchez Serrano and Manon Engel which took place from March to September 2012 at the espace libre, an offspace located right behind the center of contemporary art CentrePasquArt in Biel (Switzerland). Taking into consideration the „hidden“ situation of the art space and its inevitable secondary role next to the official institution, the exhibition series aimed to restore the dignity of the espace libre, seizing its potential to create audacious associations and daring projects.

INVASION started with a performance of Daniela de Maddalena and Berhnard Gerber and was followed by four consecutive exhibitions of Swiss artists: Carol May, Andreas Marti, Jonas Etter and Reto Steiner. Each artist made a site-specific installation considering the location and architecture of the espace libre and proposed his/her particular interpretation of what the beginning of a material revolution and aesthethic invasion could look like.

The project was supported by Kanton Bern and the City of Biel Bienne.

A catalogue designed  by Olivier Lebrun was published at the end of the exhibition series:
