“…that I might not sin…”

Psalm 119:11 NKJV — Your word I have hidden in my heart, That I might not sin against You.

Scripture is clear, there is none sinless, but Christ.

Yet, we also see a marked difference between those who choose to follow God’s Word and those who choose sin.

The Psalmist is of those who chose to follow.

It’s not that he is sinless.

Instead, it’s that he’s very aware of his sin and is diligent in guarding himself from it.

Proverbs 22:3 KJV — A prudent man foreseeth the evil, and hideth himself: but the simple pass on, and are punished.

Like the Psalmist we can choose to adhere to God’s Word, following His instructions, and avoid evil.

Dear Lord Jesus,
Thank You for this verse. Lord, the longer I live, the more I realize this is a daily activity. Each day, I must hide Your Word in my heart, that I might not sin against You. Lord, please continue to teach me. Please continue to hone my heart that I might not cause pain. Lord, thank You for all You have taught me already and how gracious and merciful You are. Thank You for Your love. Thank You for life! Please continue to touch the sick and hurting, to help the helpless, to defend the fatherless, to restore the wayward, to provide for the needy, to save the lost. Thank You, Jesus. Amen.
