London Mega-Post

I am back from my internship at a publishing house in London. Here is an update of what I got up to while I was down there…

I stayed in North West London for the first week I was working in London, and then South East London for the second week- this was arranged through a scheme that assigns publishing interns with a place to live while interning at a publisher. The one drawback of this arrangement was that both of places where I stayed, they did not have a TV! And to top things off, I didn’t take my laptop with me so as to make space in my case and make it lighter to travel with. Therefore, I have been without any form of technology (except my phone) for the last 2 weeks! Oh…I also forgot to take my headphones with me!! (Major error there!)

Anyway, here is what I got up to…

Catherine McGrath Gig | Hoxton 

On my first night in London I managed to get to see an up-and-coming artist that I really like. Catherine played a mixture of original and cover songs. Her music has featured regularly in my musical posts so be sure to take the hint and listen to her music! McGrath’s singing was impeccable, my personal favourites were “Say You Love Me“, “Cinderella” and “She’ll Never Love You“. As I am returning to London next month for another publishing internship, I am planning on attending another of Catherine’s gigs in London as she is as good live as she is on her album.

The Comedy About a Bank Robbery | Criterion Theatre, Piccadilly Circus

I will be doing a full review later this week. But this is basically a message from me to try and get tickets to that Play That Goes Wrong as it is on a nationwide tour at the moment, and that is also from the same performing group, Mischief Theatre.

Bank Robbery was utterly hilarious, and after watching Play Goes Wrong and Pan Goes Wrong, I am now a fully fledged groupie of Mischief Theatre.

House of MinaLima | Soho

For all Potter fans out there, this is a must see whenever you are in London, especially if you are seeing Cursed Child, as it is around the corner from Palace Theatre. The House of MinaLima showcases prints of the designers’ work on the Potter and Fantastic Beasts films, among other things. The photos don’t do the place justice, as some of the prints are beautifully unique because when the lights go out, the gold print becomes shines.

Morning in Greenwich | View from Observatory, National Maritime Museum, Greenwich Market and Foot Tunnel.

I was staying in Blackheath, South East London, so I was relatively close to North and Central Greenwich, therefore I thought I should make the most of being close to some beautiful views and some history. The National Maritime Museum was such an interesting place, and there were a few areas of the museum which related to my university studies which made the visit even more enlightening and rewarding.

Daunts Books | Marylebone

If you want to go to a bookshop in London, go to Daunts Books. The most beautiful bookshop! I spent over an hour looking at possibly every book in there. It is sorted by country, so there will be a plethora of different genres of books in each section, from thrillers to romance to biographies. Daunt Books specialise in travel books, so there are a lot of beautiful covered books that would look great on the shelf.

A couple of photos of landmarks when I was out and about at the weekend doing some sightseeing. I tried to get red carpet tickets for the BAFTA Awards but they had unfortunately all been sold out (BOO!).
