The Shadows we Live in
Growing up and finding our own place into this already made world, is challenging. Even more when people tend to try to fit us into someone else’s mold. Maybe its a parent comparing us to another sibling, a neighbors kid or a cousin. No matter how far our own accomplishment have come, unless we are doing better than our drafted competition. It seems to not matter at all. We all have our own shine inside us and when we are thrown in the shadows of another person. It’s very hard to show it and for other s to see it. No matter how hard it may be to say, we need to let others know that we are one of a kind and not clones of another person. That we want to leave our own footsteps in the world and not walk in someone else’s

  1. I know what you’re saying is totally true, but it’s hard to do because most people will judge us as strange, different, not a team player. Then they will start to avoid and not include us because they’re uncomfortable. And since we all need to survive, to earn a living so we can pay bills and support our families, many times we can’t afford to be ourselves. It’s not right. I get tired of the shadows.

    1. You are right and I used to feel that way. Later on down the line I realize that if it’s work related. Longs I do my job and show confidence in myself, people will see and accept you. For the ones that don’t there not worth your time anyway.

  2. I totally agree it is terrible to have to live up to someone. I was lucky to not have any siblings or close relatives to be compared to. My daughter being an only child is lucky also. Living in a small town the comparisons seem to magnify. Everyone knows everyone else and although this is mostly good sometimes it would be nice to just blend in for a change. Not everyone fits a mold and we need to realize this when dealing with others.
