Billboard #1 Hits: #641: ‘ Bad’- Michael Jackson. October 24, 1987. #1 for 2 weeks in Billboard Hot 100.

  • Single: ‘Bad’- Michael Jackson
  • Record Company-Epic
  • Genre: Pop Rock
  • Written by Michael Jackson
  • Time: 4:07
  • B-side:’I Can’t Help It’
  • Album- Bad
  • Grade: A
  • Peaked at #1 2 weeks in Billboard Hot 100. #3 in UK Singles Chart, #1 in Belgium, Ireland, Netherlands, Norway and Spain.

The second single released from Michael Jackson’s follow up to Thriller- -the title track of the album ‘Bad’ was the second number one from the Bad album. There would be 5 #1 hits from ‘Bad’ but while the album did sell incredibly well in comparison to anything else- 10 million albums in the US- it faced impossible competition- Thriller has sold 33 million in the US alone. Reportedly Michael did not handle the fall off in sales very well locking himself away in his bedroom for days crying over it. Sad.

  1. I liked some of the songs on this album well enough, but it was inferior to “Off The Wall” and “Thriller”. It’s pathetic that Jackson spent days locked in his bedroom, crying over sales numbers that most other artists could only dream about. Sad indeed.

    • Agree- Off The Wall and Thriller- MJ at his peak… Bad had a lot of hits- but I never even bought the album. I guess I helped make MJ cry.
