Yeah, this is not a good look:
Penn State coach James Franklin has been named as a defendant in a federal lawsuit filed Tuesday by a former player, according to the filings obtained by PennLive.com. Safety Isaiah Humphries alleges in his U.S. Middle District Court complaint that he was subjected to violent and “overtly sexual” hazing during his time at Penn State. The university and defensive lineman Damion Barber are also named as defendants in the case. Additionally, linebackers Micah Parsons and Jesse Luketa, as well as defensive end Yetur Gross-Matos, are named in the suit as ringleaders for the abuse.
The suit is seeking unspecified damages. Penn State has not yet officially commented on the case.
According to the complaint, Humphries was subjected to intense hazing during his lone year with the Nittany Lions. The hazing allegedly took place in several areas on campus, including the Lasch Building. Humphries claims the alleged bullies would wrestle victims to the ground and shove their genitals in their faces. Other threats allegedly included assailants saying, “I am going to Sandusky you,” referencing disgraced former Nittany Lions defensive coordinator Jerry Sandusky.
I’m waiting for the inevitable “boys will be boys” defense. Nice program you got there, Penn State.

Ped State right there with Art Briles’s Baylor. Didn’t James Franklin have some guys get in trouble for sexual assault in Nashville as well?

It was straight up gang rape in a dorm room of an unconscious girl.
I never understood why this case didn’t receive more attention than it did.

I didn’t realize R. Kelley played at Vanderbilt. Just a bad look all the way around in both cases.

I couldn’t remember the circumstances, but that probably should have disqualified him from ever getting another coaching job.

Yes, he did — and the girl involved was actually a person that Franklin somehow knew as a recruiting hostess type (even though those were illegal).
Don’t forget his “requirement” at Vanderbilt that his assistant coaches were required to have “hot wives.”

That program should have been burned to the ground and the earth salted.

Without question. They certainly got the coach they deserve.

Oy. What’s wrong with those people up there? The ‘boys’ I grew up with were nothing like that. When we heard the words ‘boys will be boys’, it was because we stayed gone too long fishing in stead of doing our chores. Personal respect has been trampled on long enough.

In fairness, Franklin’s culture IS rape and sexual battery. It was at Vandy too. https://www.usatoday.com/story/sports/ncaaf/2014/10/08/former-vandy-coach-james-franklin-testifies-in-rape-case/16920397/

Well at least he has courtroom experience. I wonder if he listed that on his resume.

Damn y’all. Just damn. I mean, WTF? I thought the program deserved the death penalty at the time the Sandusky case blew up. Can it be applied retroactively?

I really had my doubts that Franklin could carry on the traditions at PSU – he proved me wrong.

If there ever was a program that not only deserves the death penalty but actually NEEDS it, that would be State Penn.

Both “deserves”, and “deserved” Mayor. The Death Penalty was officially pronounced dead when the NCAA did not level State Penn, and worse, backed off the limited penalty it gave. Another example of great leadership under Emmert’s reign.
I will say, of all the campuses where one would not expect the phrase “going to Sandusky you” to be used, it would be this one. Shows even the current players think the school should be mocked openly for what occurred there…for well over a decade.

How? How does an institution like PSU ignore what happened in Nashville and make that hire on the heels of the Sandusky horror?
The college president, AD and any committees etc. that came up with this hire need to be asked that question on television during halftime of the Superbowl.

They ignored it for years in their own building. Most people don’t realize what a strange remote place Penn State is until they visit.
It makes Clemson look like Las Vegas.
