Great photo but I have to tell you, this is not a destroyer. It’s an amphibious transport dock ship. The navy designation is a LPD. Destroyers are designated as DD. This ship happens to be the USS NEW ORLEANS. I happened to be at it’s commissioning in New Orleans in March 2007. To many it might seem a trivial distinction but for those who served on these ships it’s a BIG DEAL. Cheers and fair winds and following seas.
