The American Association of University Women, Vero Beach presents the 35th Season of Book Review Breakfasts always FREE and open to the public, on Monday, November 4th, from 9:30 to 11 am at the Richardson Center, IRSC Campus, Vero Beach. A continental breakfast will be offered. Dr. Jacueline Jacobs, Professor and United Way and LRJ Foundation board member will review The Tenth Muse: A Novel by Catherine Chung.

The J.M. Stringer Gallery, 3465 Ocean Drive in Vero Beach begins its season with a new exhibit including artworks by Salmagundi Award Winners including John Traynor and Claudia Seymour through November 30.  Opening Receptions will be on Thursday, November 7 from 4 – 8 pm; Friday, November 8 from 11 am – 6 pm and on Saturday, November 9 from 11 am – 6 pm.

SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 9

Glen Bottalico’s new exhibition space, Bottalico Gallery, 933 7th Avenue in Vero Beach, is having a Grand Opening and Open House on Saturday, November 9 from 11 am to 4 pm.  On view will be paintings and accessories by Glen (at right), stunning handmade jewelry & clothing by Christina Cornell and paintings  by Jemal Hayes.  Enjoy refreshments and meet the artists.

The Oceanside Business Association presents Sunset Saturday Night on Saturday, November 9 from 6 to 9 pm on Ocean Drive in Vero Beach at Humiston Park.  The guest band this month is the East Harbor Band performing outside under the stars. Food, beer and wine will be available for purchase.  No coolers, please.  Admission is free.

Vintage: The Band

Sebastian Inlet State Park’s Night Sounds Concert Series features the classic rock band, Vintage from 7 to 9 pm on Saturday, November 9.  As one of the most popular and hardest working bands in Brevard county, Vintage bring energy and passion while playing their own takes on music spanning the last 50 years.  The concert is free with regular park entry fees.

SUNDAY, NOVEMBER 10

The Vero Beach Choral Society will perform “Songs of Glory Great” including works by Handel, Vaughan Williams, Britten, Perry and more on Sunday, November 10 at 4 pm at Community Church of Vero Beach.  Tickets are $20 at the door; $5 for students.

The Vero Beach Art Club’s juried member show, Art in the Park will be held on Sunday, November 10 from 10 am to 4 pm at Humiston Park. Original works of art on view include Oil, Acrylic, Watercolor and Pastel paintings along with Collage Wall Art, Photography and Digital Art, Sculpture/Glass Works/Wood/ Ceramics, and Jewelry.  Free.

MONDAY, NOVEMBER 11

Celebrate the 50th Anniversary of the Apollo Moon Landing with Lift Off! an event featuring a private movie screening and Q & A with Apollo engineers on Wednesday, November 13 from 4 to 6:30 pm at the Majestic Theatre, 940 14th Ln #4733 in Vero Beach.  The event will benefit the Laura Riding Jackson Foundation.  There will be a private screening of the documentary film When We Were Apollo;  a live panel discussion and Q&A with engineers who worked on Apollo; and Vero Beach author Martha Lemasters will lead the panel discussion and be autographing copies of her memoir, The Step.  Tickets are $100 and may be purchased by calling (772) 234-8500.  Following the movie, participants are encouraged to dine at Carrabbas where the owner will provide a portion of the proceeds to LRJF. The dinner is optional and not included in the ticket price.

TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 12

The Pelican Island Audubon Society’s meeting will be held on Tuesday, November 12 at 6 pm at the North Indian River County Library.  The topic is Insects & Birds with Lawrence Reeves, Ph.D., University of Florida Medical Entomology Laboratory.  Free.

HOUSE OF ART, CULTURE AND DESIGN

Make your reservations today to attend events for the Cultural Council’s  House of Art, Culture & Design to be held from November 14-17.  The Designer Showhouse & Garden Exhibition is held on Friday November 15 & Saturday November 16  from 10 am to 6 pm and Sunday November 17 from Noon to 5pm ($25 per person)  For location, parking information and tickets,  visit HouseofArtCultureandDesign.com.

The special events listed below will take place at the Environmental learning Center, 255 Live Oak Dr. at the SW corner of the Wabasso Bridge.  If you attend any of these events, your admission to the Designer Showhouse on the day of your choice is free.

Big Band Gala  will be held on Thursday November 14 from 6 to 9 pm for $150 per person.  This is an opening night gala with a buffet dinner and dancing to the big band sounds of the Jordan Thomas Odyssey. Cocktail Attire.  Come early for the Ribbon Cutting Ceremony  from 4pm – 6pm. Celebrate the opening of the Designer Showhouse & Garden Exhibition with this preview event.  Trolleys will transport you to and from the Environmental Learning Center and the property.

An Evening at the Cabaret will be held on Friday, November 15 from 6pm – 9pm  for $75 per person.  This is a perfect date night with cocktails, food and a cabaret performance. You can preview the Designer Showhouse & Garden Exhibition before the evening begins. Trolleys will transport you to and from the Environmental Learning Center and the property.

Style with an In Style Luncheon will be held on  Saturday November 16 from 12pm – 2pm for  $125 per person .  This is a fashion show with a runway show and luncheon.

Mimosas & Mahjong Brunch 

will be held on Sunday, November 17  from 12pm – 3pm  for $50 per person.  Enjoy an afternoon of strategy and fun with mimosas and brunch.
