Friday night I went out to The Exchange, The Club side with my dad to see ‘Room 333’ play.  Good show, small venue for a full on hard rock act but it sounded good.  They have a 3 or 4 song EP coming out.  They do have an album on iTunes!  Seeing them live you also get to see drummer Chris Dimas playing drums like nobody else!

I love going to The Exchange to see bands, & people I haven’t seen in a looooong time.  That’s one of very few if not the only venue in town for original artists to play.  The last band I was in played there a lot & only 2 other venues that are now gone.  I do not miss hauling my guitar, amplifier, & speaker cabinet home at 2:30 am after playing for an hour though.  I’m old, I’d need a roadie now “I’m done, now get all of my gear home for me please, $20 OK?”  One of the last shows we played before I got sick was a benefit show for Telemiracle.  They raise money to help those in need of medical equipment.  They gave us $11,000 towards a wheelchair van for me that was $18,000.  It’s a full weekend of entertainment in Saskatoon or Regina for people to call in & donate to the cause.  I think we played 2 benefit shows, with all of the money going to Telemiracle.  I think the last concert I played was for Telemiracle, we hit the stage at 1:00 am.  Ugh, I liked playing to an audience but there were 16 people left at that time, including the bar staff & a sound guy.  The next day I go on to a post board to thank people for coming & I get a response of “Thanks, I was the guy on the left!”  I’ve played to 16 people & 500 people.  With the lights in my eyes it’s hard to tell who’s out there, might as well entertain whoever’s there.  Leave it all on the stage, then pack up your gear in the wee hours of the morning.

We were never rich or famous.  We just played what we wanted to hear.  No sense in having a hobby you don’t like!

My dad, uncle, & I made a trip to the north end of town to the Sobey’s liquor store today in the late afternoon, went back to my parents’ house to slap on some sun lotion & went to the Saskatchewan Roughrider game.  Our season tickets are on the East side of the field.  We were sweating/dying for the first 3 quarters since the east side gets a lot of sun, especially when the game starts at 4:30 pm & it’s +31 Celcius which is 87.8 Fahrenheit.  By the fourth quarter the sun had gone down enough that we were in the shade & we won!  It was a very entertaining football game!

I checked out the price of 18 cans of beer they sell at the stadium for $9 a can, but if you buy it at a liquor store it work out to $25 for 18 cans which is roughly &1.39 a can.  It’s a HUGE increase for profit in the new stadium but I’ve only had 2 beer for $5 each at the old stadium since the washrooms weren’t very convenient.  Now they’re easily accessible but the beer is grossly overpriced.  No beer for this guy!  Today my uncle bought us each a needed cold beer though.  We got to our wheelchair section & I immediately grabbed a bottled water out of our bag I was incredibly hot.

My uncle & cousins flew home today, & Kim gets home today as well.  Kim & her sister drove home by Prince Albert to help their aunt get settled into her new house.  She moved from Prince George in B.C. to be closer to family.  Her husband passed away from 2 heart attacks & I think cancer, while I was in the hospital.  I liked him very cool guy!

IF YOU’RE HERE FOR THE UPDATE, THAT’S ALL THAT I HAVE FOR YOU TODAY.

Nothing was mentioned about this earlier.  “Slayer” playing ‘Raining Blood’ on Jimmy Fallon!  WOW, I didn’t see that coming!  This was on the evening of Thursday, July 27.

I have issues with 99% of what Gene Simmons says.  The music industry isn’t dead.  Maybe KISS is just not as popular as they were in 70s & 80s?

Blue Jays are playing 3 games this weekend against the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim.  After the 4 game winning streak against the Oakland Athletics I hope nobody got a false sense of them making the playoffs.  They still have 7 teams ahead of them for the second wild card spot.  Oakland came into Toronto with the exact same win-loss record as Toronto.  It’s nice to see a winning streak, but the 4 game winning streak didn’t really do anything for them.

By Tuesday I hope this team looks different!  Monday at noon Eastern Time is the trade deadline.  If possible I hope they get a pile of young prospects & a few younger current players.  If they’re able to dump 3 or 4 players that means they could take $60M or $80M off the payroll of old under preforming veterans.  There 6 players they have now that I wouldn’t even consider trading, 3 of them are in the minor league system.  From what I hear they’re keeping the old players with HUGE contracts & loading up the minor league teams with really good prospects if possible.  This won’t be like the trade deadline of 2015.  They won’t be a playoff contender until the 2019 season at the earliest.

  1. I felt so sorry for the people on the east side of the stadium. There were lots of empty seats. I think lots of people just couldn’t tolerate it and either didn’t come to the game, or they left, or maybe they were standing in the concourse. There were quite a few empty seats around us during the first haft, but they filled up in the second half, so lots of people came on over. Sure can’t blame them.
It was nice to get a win!
I totally agree, the drink prices are ridiculous! We always bring a bottle of almost frozen water. My husband brought 2 water bottles to the first game, and we had to leave one at the gate. Who knew there is a limit. One bottle of water only. Stupid rule, as I see people refilling their water bottles and drink cups at the water fountain.
Next game is a Sunday evening. Ill be cold for sure.. our seats are way up there at the top, south end, Its super windy.
You will appreciate the sun beating on you in Oct!

    • I now ware shorts year ’round. I’m always warm, almost sweating by the end of the day. Even during the winter. Our windows face south & we’re not allowed to turn on the A/C. Me being home all it often gets to +28 C during the day. We almost never turn the heat on.
We took 2 bottles of water each. We brought 6 bottles of water, licorice, sun lotion, & rain gear! Security always check our bag & have never had an issue with what’s in our bag,
