Travel Trends Report Reveals Thailand is Right on Trend for 2013

Once a year Kuoni release their travel trends report, and if you are looking for an ‘on trend’ holiday destination for 2013, then the newly released report indicates that you should be heading to Thailand!

A country that most definitely deserves its title as “the Land of Smiles”, Thailand is warm, inviting, and offers holidays for everyone with its captivating cities, idyllic sun-drenched islands, floating markets, and the enchanted forests of the north, so I am not in the least bit surprised that it made the Top 10 Holiday Destinations list.

However, Thailand not only took the number #2 spot on the Top 10 Destinations list (coming in just after the Maldives), but it also featured on the lists of Top 10 Wedding Destinations, Top 10 Honeymoon Destinations and Top 5 Holidays for singles – making this the ultimate holiday destination for 2013.

Having travelled quite extensively throughout Thailand in 2010, I can completely understand why travellers have voted this country so highly, and if you are worried about Thailand being a ‘men only’ holiday destination, you are in for a rather pleasant surprise.

My favourite part of Thailand would have to be the northern city of Chiang Mai, with its beautiful temples, pretty parks, busy night markets and endless supply of quality Thai restaurants.  A pretty town with an authentic feel, it is well worth the journey from Bangkok, although if you are looking for comfort over cultural experiences, you might not want to take the night bus like we did!

Then there are the pretty islands of Koh Tao, Koh Pha Ngan and Koi Samui, all similar yet completely different, these tranquil islands in the gulf of Thailand have all the white sandy beaches, coconut trees and coral reefs you would imagine, making them a popular choice for beach weddings and honeymoons.

Then there is the hedonistic capital of the world – Phuket, which is just a colourful and debauched as one would expect!  But you know what, the girly bars are fun, the lady boy shows are highly entertaining (they are all Lady Boys in the photo above!!), and as a woman, I never felt in the slightest bit intimidated or uncomfortable – in fact, I had a brilliant time!

Thailand has something to offer everyone, and it more than deserves its place as one of the Top 10 Destinations in the world 2013.

This is good news for Thailand. The Thai Baht is stronger than it has been in a long time and a good tourist boost would improve it even more.

    1. Absolutely! Think 2013 is going to be a good year for Thailand! 😉
