On Laziness and Freedom

The diligent find freedom in their work but the lazy are oppressed instead by it and so become a slave to their desires.
                           Proverbs xii:24

Good News Translation.

Through diligence, hard work, concentration and effort, men get riches, and through riches they arrive to power and authority over others. They grow from apprentices and journeymen and then become masters of their business. The diligent also have families, responsibilities, employees, friends, family and slowly become magistrates in cities and so help their fellow citizens advancement. ( Proverbs 22:29

29 Do you see a man diligent and skillful in his business? He will stand before kings; he will not stand before obscure men.

Ah, but the slothful shall be under tribute; the “slothful”, lazy bums who won’t volunteer and learn something for free but always need money, do not really care for business because they will only do as much as they get paid for and instead live by deceitful methods, tricking other, carping always, hand in mouth and so without realizing it, they become subject to others, like those who are diligent; and hence are said to be “under tribute”, or tributary; and must worry if their master is good or evil.
